Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One's Capital Facilities Plan (CFP) serves as the long-term roadmap for maintaining, improving, and replacing the District's facilities to meet the needs of our growing community. The plan includes a comprehensive evaluation of every fire station to determine which facilities should be renovated, expanded, or replaced based on operational needs, safety, functionality, and future service demands.

The CFP also outlines improvements to the District's Training Campus and Shop Building, including conceptual floor plans for proposed facilities and detailed cost estimates for each project.

Developed over more than two years with input from personnel across the District, the Capital Facilities Plan looks ahead 20 years to ensure our facilities continue to support emergency responders and provide reliable, high-quality service to the communities we protect. By planning strategically today, we are investing in safe, efficient, and sustainable facilities that will serve our residents for decades to come.

In May 2021, Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One partnered with Dynamix Consulting Group to develop a Community Risk Assessment and Standards of Cover (CRA: SOC). This comprehensive study evaluates the District's current level of service, identifies community risks, and helps guide future planning to ensure we continue providing effective, efficient, and reliable emergency response.

The assessment follows nationally recognized best practices, including applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, the Community Risk Assessment: Standards of Cover, 6th Edition published by the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE), and relevant federal and state requirements.

The CRA: SOC provides a detailed snapshot of the District by examining our service area, emergency response capabilities, station locations, staffing, deployment, programs, and overall service delivery. These findings are measured against national standards, industry best practices, and the expertise of independent consultants to identify strengths, opportunities, and future needs. The result is a data-driven framework that helps ensure Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One is well positioned to meet the evolving needs of our community for years to come.
