About the Program

Safe Sitter® is designed to prepare students ages 11–14 to stay safe when home alone, caring for younger siblings, or babysitting.

This interactive, instructor-led course combines games, role-playing, and hands-on activities to help students build confidence and develop important safety and caregiving skills.

Students will learn:

• Safety Skills
• Child Care Skills
• First Aid & Rescue Skills
• Life & Business Skills

Course Details

• Cost: $40 per student
• Duration: One day, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Graduation: Includes a short ceremony that family members are welcome to attend.
• Class Size: Limited to 16 students per class
• Ages: 11–14 years old (Grades 6–8)

Registration Priority

Priority registration is given to students residing within Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One's service area (ZIP codes 98332, 98333, and 98335).

Students outside the service area are welcome to register but will be placed on a waitlist.

The Babysitter Boss series on YouTube, created by Safe Sitter, Inc., covers a wide range of practical babysitting topics, from handling toddler tantrums to bedtime routines and diaper changes. It's a great supplemental resource while you wait for our next class.
