As part of the 2022 voter-approved Capital Facilities Bond, Stations 53 and 57 have been upgraded with important health, safety, and facility improvements to better support our firefighters and the communities they serve.

Both stations now feature dedicated decontamination areas equipped with bunker gear extractors and dryers, along with separate locker rooms for storing turnout gear away from the apparatus bays. These enhancements help reduce firefighters' exposure to harmful contaminants and create a healthier work environment.

Additional improvements include upgrades to meet current ADA accessibility requirements and seismic safety standards, ensuring each facility is safer, more resilient, and better equipped to serve the District for years to come. Both stations also received an additional dorm room to accommodate current and future staffing needs.
