Safe Sitter Classes

Safe Sitter Registration Now Open!

Safe Sitter is designed to prepare students ages 11-14 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. The instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue and CPR!

2025 Course Dates:

~~JUNE: 24 – 26~~ (COURSE FULL)
JULY: 21 – 23
AUGUST: 12 – 14

Important Information:

Cost: $40 per student
Length: 3-day course
(Starts at 9am each day and concludes at 1pm on days 1 and 2 and at noon on day 3)
Class limited to 12 students ages 11 to 14.
Priority registration for Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One residents (zip codes 98332, 98333, and 98335).
Students outside or jurisdiction will be placed on a waitlist.
If cancellation occurs or we are unable to fill a date, we will begin notification to waitlisted students ASAP.

Safe Sitter Registration Form

Thank you for your interest in the Safe Sitter® course with Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One! Before beginning the registration form, please review the following important information:

Class Format: This is a 3-day course.

Schedule: Class begins promptly at 9:00 AM each day. Day 1 & 2: Ends at 1:00 PM. Day 3: Ends at 12:00 PM (noon).

Important Details:

Age Requirement: Students must be 11 to 14 years old on the day of the class.
Class Size: Limited to 12 students.
Priority Registration: Given to students who live within the Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One service area (ZIP codes 98332, 98333, and 98335).
Waitlist: Students outside our district will be placed on a waitlist. If cancellations occur, we will contact waitlisted students in the order received, offering the spot to the first who can attend. (Payment will only be requested once a spot is confirmed.)

What to Expect After Registering:

After submitting this form, our team will review your registration during regular business hours. You’ll receive a follow-up email with one of the following:

A payment link to confirm your student’s spot (payment is due within 2 days), or
A notification if your student is placed on the waitlist.

Due to the popularity and high demand for this course, if payment is not received within the 2-day window, we may offer the spot to another student.

Other Terms & Conditions

I will take all responsibility for deciding whether my child is capable and mature enough to babysit.
I understand the importance of having my child attend each course session and arrive on time.
The Teaching Site reserves the right to decline the application of any student, or send home any student who, according to the site's discretion, is disruptive or puts him/herself or others at risk.
I, the undersigned, consent to the use, reproduction and publication by Safe Sitter, Inc. and/or the teaching site of pictures or recordings taken of my child during the program for publicity purposes.

Acknowledgement of Risk of Injury/Release and Waiver.

I acknowledge and understand that there may be a risk of injury involved in the activities that my child will engage in during the program. In consideration of my child's participation in the program, I hereby agree to release, waive, hold harmless, and shall indemnify Safe Sitter, Inc. and the Teaching Site and the irrespective employees, members, officers and other staff members from liability to us and our child for any and all claims.
I, the undersigned, have read this release and understand all of its terms. I execute it voluntarily and with full knowledge of its meaning and significance.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that to the best of my knowledge, my child is able to safely participate in the program activities for which he or she has been registered.
By submitting this registration form I agree to the terms listed above and provide my signature as proof of acceptance.
I consent and authorize the Teaching Site to submit the name and address of my child to Safe Sitter, Inc. I understand that Safe Sitter, Inc. will not sell, share or trade this information with other organizations.

Safe Sitter, Inc. does not provide CPR or other certifications, release the names of graduates, or act as a referral source of babysitters.
